Words are failing me here, folks, because unless somebody spiked my coffee, I’m watching a trailer for a gritty re-imagining of the story of Jack and the Beanstalk…and, and…it looks hilarious! It’s just so over-the-top ridiculous that I’m grinning like a moron. I must admit, I find this new trend of gritty re-tellings of classic fairytales a bit puzzling. Who knew that in 2012 we’d have two Snow White movies competing with a Jack and the Beanstalk movie? And they’re all live action! It boggles the mind nearly as much as the fact that Jack the Giant Killer is being directed by Bryan Singer and stars Ewan Macgregor, Bill Nighy, Warwick Davis, Ian McShane and Stanley Tucci!
Jack the Giant Killer comes out June 15, 2012.
