Before They Were Stars: Matt Frewer in “The Crimson Permanent Assurance”

Well, Gill pretty much served this one up to me on a silver platter when he did today’s Celebrity Birthday of the Day on Matt Frewer. All Monty Python fans should be familiar with The Crimson Permanent Assurance, the 15-minute Terry Gilliam-directed short film that plays before Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life, but I had no idea until today that Matt Frewer had one of his earliest roles in it. You can first see him pop up around the ten-minute mark as the executive in the boardroom who pulls out a sword to defend himself against the elderly pirates and winds up jumping out the window after he is cornered. Even if it didn’t contain a “Before They Were Stars” moment, any excuse to post The Crimson Permanent Assurance on The Back Row is a good one.
