Before They Were Stars: John Cena and Brock Lesnar Cross Paths in 2001

Tonight, Brock Lesnar is going to be challenging John Cena for the World Title in the main event of World Wrestling Entertainment’s annual Summerslam pay-per-view. It’s hard to believe that it’s been about 14 years since both men were rookie prospects in WWE’s developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling. This may be the earliest footage of them ever crossing paths in the ring as Lesnar teamed up with Shelton Benjamin as part of a tag team called The Minnesota Wrecking Crew to take on Cena (when he was known as “The Prototype”) and Rico Constantino in a dark match before a Monday Night RAW taping in November 2001.
