As someone who loves pop culture ephemera, I get a huge kick out of old commercials and the products that they were promoting. I came across this beauty a couple of nights ago: a 1960’s ad for a snack food called “Screaming Yellow Zonkers.” The snack came in a black box (purportedly the first product to be packaged in black), which was covered in bizarre copy that suggested ways to “clean your zonkers” and even “mate your zonkers.” All this weirdness for a food that was apparently just Cracker Jacks without the nuts. Ahhh, the 60’s were a different time.
