Guillermo Del Toro-Produced Horror Film Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark Gets a Trailer

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark is a horror film produced and co-written by Guillermo Del Toro and directed by newcomer Troy Nixey (based on the 1973 movie of the same name), to be released in theatres in January of 2011. It stars Guy Pearce, Baillee Madison and, believe it or not, Katie Holmes (whom they have cunningly left out of the preview). Is Katie Holmes still a box office draw? I figured that after she didn’t return for The Dark Knight, she was basically putting the final nail in the coffin of her career. I’ve never been much of a Katie Holmes fan, myself. I enjoyed her in Go, and she wasn’t bad in The Gift, but other than those two movies I just can’t think of any roles that she has played that really grabbed me. Even her performance as Rachel Dawes in Batman Begins was pretty uninspired. But hey, if anyone can resurrect her career, it’s Guillermo Del Toro!
