Sunday Short Reviews

Every Sunday, Gill delves into his archive of over 800 movie reviews and randomly selects three for your enjoyment! Here are this week’s…

TMNT
I’m a big ninja turtles fan and lemme tell ya, this movie was a total letdown. There were barely any martial arts in it, and Mikey and Donnie were seriously denied the screen-time they deserve! And Mikey didn’t even use his nunchucks! It’s like the filmmakers decided to remake Thir13en Ghosts as a kids movie and put the turtles in as an afterthought!

Hero
Much like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The House of Flying Daggers, Hero is an epic, visually stunning martial arts ballet in which plot doesn’t really matter.

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride
A nice attempt, and a real accomplishment as far as the animation goes. However, the musical numbers are unfortunately forgettable and the claymation is almost too perfect, which ruins the jerky charm of the style and makes a lot of the movie indistinguishable from computer-generated cartoons.
