American folklore – or should I say fakelore – is getting a horror movie next year, as io9 is reporting that a Paul Bunyan slasher flick is in the works! Simply titled Bunyan, the film is being directed by Gary Jones of….um…Crocodile 2: Death Swamp and…er…Planet Raptor fame…and it’s slated for a 2011 release. Here’s a plot summary:
The movie is a dark, contemporary take on the legend of lumberjack Paul Bunyan. Kids at a first time offender’s boot camp in Minnesota discover that the legend of Paul Bunyan is real, but much more horrifying than they could have imagined. They incur the wrath of the 15-foot monstrous giant, who was banished from town 100 years ago and thought dead.
All I can say is that I hope Babe the blue ox shows up to gore some delinquents!
