Since George Clooney’s The American had the nerve to beat my beloved Machete at the box office last weekend, I’ve decided to get my revenge by posting some embarassing footage of Mr. Clooney sporting an awful eighties haircut in Return of the Killer Tomatoes! While the movie seems pretty lame overall, I have to concede that the “breaking the fourth wall” gag in this clip is pretty clever. It involves the movie just coming to a dead halt halfway through because they’ve run out of funds until Clooney steps in and suggests that they raise the rest of the money through massive product placement. The very next scene involves Clooney obnoxiously flashing a product to the camera ever five seconds. This actually beat the hilarious product placement sequence in Wayne’s World by three years, so I give credit where credit’s due.
