I Am Number Four Is Surprisingly A Movie

From Wikipedia:

Nine infant aliens, who closely resemble humans, flee their home planet, Lorien, to hide on Earth. An invading species, the Mogadorians, have destroyed their planet, and follow them to Earth to hunt them down. Each of the nine aliens is given a guardian and will develop superhuman powers as they become adults. They are each assigned a number. These last children of Lorien can only be killed in the sequence of their numbers.

I had never heard of I Am Number Four before I stumbled upon this trailer, but apparently it was originally a novel, which has now been adapted into a movie. But frankly, I’m surprised that this isn’t a TV show, since the premise seems to lend itself to the serial format. In fact, watching this preview, I was reminded of two different television series with similar premises. One was Roswell, which I never really followed, and the other is Sym-Bionic Titan, which also features aliens fleeing to earth after their home planet was invaded. I wish I could say that I’m interested in this, but the trailer just fell totally flat for me. It looks like it’s pandering to a pop teen audience, much like D.J. Caruso’s other films, and as a result, I’m a bit older than the target demographic. I dunno. Any fans of the book out there who’d care to weigh in on this?
