A little awhile ago, I posted clips of the unique phenomenon of future big-name actors appearing in sequels to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But that’s nowhere near as bizarre as the trend where future stars Charlize Theron, Naomi Watts and Eva Mendes all wound up made early acting appearances in consecutive direct-to-video sequels to Children of the Corn! I have no idea why anyone thought that the original Children of the Corn was popular enough to inspire so many sequels, but someone must have been watching them since they wound making seven of these movies altogether! Watts already had a few movies on her resume when she made Children of the Corn IV, but Theron and Mendes were both making their film debuts in their respective Corn movies. In fact, Theron has no lines of dialogue and her part is so small that she didn’t even receive any credit for it! Apparently, another sequel, Children of the Corn: The Dweller, is currently in production, so take your pick which unknown member of its cast is going to become a breakout star.
