Zach Galifianakis Smokes Pot, Surprising No One

I try to keep political debate off the Back Row as much as possible, but I just can’t resist posting this clip of comedian and actor Zach Galifianakis whipping out a joint on Real Time with Bill Maher and lighting up. Maher and Galifianakis are both vocally opposed to marijuana prohibition, so it really doesn’t come as a surprise that Galifianakis would be so brazen as to smoke pot on TV, but I am surprised at how little backlash there seems to be as a result of this. I have yet to hear anyone damning the stunt, and even conservative panel guest Margaret Hoover seems more amused than anything in this clip.

“It’s a tricky thing politically to jump on that bandwagon,” said Galifianakis, “Because I think that maybe people still see it as taboo.”
Well done, Zach. Well done.
