Ed Asner, having been in the acting business for more than half a century, has done some memorable roles. The two roles for which I will remember him most fondly have been in the last 12 years. Firstly, as Maurice in a Christmas episode of “The X-Files” titled How The Ghosts Stole Christmas, in which he plays a ghost married to Lily Tomlin. Secondly, as Carl Fredricksen in the fabulous Pixar film, Up. I know the second one is only his voice, but really, he does have a lot physically in common with Carl, and was a perfect choice as a voice.
