Do you know what I love most about Charlie Kaufman? The fact that his physical appearance pretty much matches my mental image of him based on his eccentric screenplays. Of course, I am referring to the fact that he has made a name for himself in Hollywood for writing brilliantly odd and oddly wonderful scripts. He hasn’t written very much, but look at his list of titles: Being John Malkovich, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Adaptation, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. My favourite aspect of any of his scripts is in Adaptation, in which he wrote a movie about himself adapting a novel into a movie. And I guess so he wouldn’t be lonely, he added a completely fictional twin brother in the film. And the best part? Both he and his fictional brother, Donald, were nominated for Oscars for the screenplay!
