Yesterday, when I posted the trailer for Real Steel (a.k.a Robo-Rocky), I commented that I’m a big sucker for fighting CGI robots. Well, here’s the first trailer for the third chapter in the mother of all fighting CGI robot franchises. As I mentioned in our latest episode of Shouts From the Back Row, about movies based on TV shows, I just can’t get enough of the Transformers movies. I recognize that they’re corny, stupid, and occasionally flat-out racist films, but I don’t care. I love those special effects. The robots look incredible, and I’ve had a lot of fun going frame by frame, watching them transform. So now, with a third Transformers movie on the way, I can’t help but feel that little tingle of excitement as I watch the preview. I can’t wait to see those huge bots on the big screen again. I just hope the 3D is good, because if it is, then this will be the cinematic equivalent of an awesome carnival ride. But the less said about the script, the better.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon comes out July 1, 2011.
