Before They Were Stars: Betty White Hosts “The Betty White Show” in 1954

To celebrate her birthday, I wanted to do a “Before They Were Stars” feature on Betty White, but that would mean I have to go all the way back to her first acting appearances on Thomas Edison’s Kinetoscope. Okay, I kid, but Betty’s career in show business does date back to the invention of television. She worked a lot in radio during the 1940s and even hosted her own radio show for awhile, and after making a successful transition to television, she would eventually get a short-lived daytime talk show of her own in 1954 called The Betty White Show. This show is about as no-frills and primitive as you can get, but you do get to see Betty White sing!
