James Franco is teaching a class about how to edit footage of James Franco

[via Gawker and Felan]

Man, do I ever wish I was attending Columbia College Hollywood’s new class called “Master Class: Editing James Franco…with James Franco,” because all those who are taking it get to edit footage of movie star James Franco, provided by James Franco under the supervision of, you guess it, James Franco. Here’s an official blurb about it from Movieline:

Mr. Franco’s frequent collaborator editor and Tyler Danna is teaching the course, which has been entitled Master Class: Editing James Franco…with James Franco. Mr. Franco is providing the footage—much of it from behind the scenes on short films he has directed – and the conception for the course and will speak to the students weekly via live feed (Skype) and attend the weekly class sessions when his schedule allows. The student editors will seek to create a cinematic image of James Franco through the footage. […]

Master Class: Editing James Franco…with James Franco meets on Thursday afternoons weekly. As conceived by Mr. Franco and Mr. Danna, the class sessions themselves will be taped and be part of the final film created by the class or another project.

I can’t decide if I think this is really vain or really awesome. I mean, Franco seems like a good-natured guy, but teaching a class about yourself? Isn’t that a little narcissistic? If it’s anything like his “Acting with James Franco” sketches from Funny or Die, though, I think it’d be a great time.

Look under the cut for parts 2 and 3 of “Acting with James Franco”!
