Finally! At long last, we’ve been given a glimpse at Captain America: The First Avenger in this superbowl TV spot for the upcoming superhero flick! And hey, it looks pretty good! I like the look of Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, even though we only see him for a split second. I’m sure I have said this before on the Back Row, but I’ve never really been interested in Captain America as a character until now. Something about the pulpy WW2 setting really appeals to me, and the more I see of Captain America: The First Avenger, the more excited I become in anticipation of its release. Not only does it look like a fun movie, but it’s one of the two remaining films needed to set up the upcoming Joss Whedon-helmed Avengers movie! The other film being Kenneth Branagh’s Thor, which also got a superbowl spot that you can watch below.
Captain America: The First Avenger comes out July 22, 2011 (why not July 4th, I wonder…?) and Thor comes out May 6, 2011.
