Conan the Barbarian was one of the few properties lined up for a reboot in recent years that didn’t bother me. Generally, I’m not too keen on remakes and reboots, but I’m not a huge Conan the Barbarian fan, so I couldn’t have cared less when I heard that a new movie was in the works. Well, lemme tell ya, now that I’ve seen this first trailer…I’m bothered. Almost offended, even. This is just such a lackluster, uninspired trailer. Maybe, maybe it looks okay in 3D, but just blurry images in puffs of smoke for a whole minute while an announcer who is trying way too hard to be Don Lafontaine invites us to enter the world…of the barbarian? This crappy, uninspired preview really illustrates the power of the trailer. A good trailer can get you interested in a movie that you had no interest in otherwise. A bad trailer can send you running for the hills. In my opinion, this falls in the latter category.
