While he was still toiling the clubs as a young stand-up comedian, Adam Sandler’s first major break in show business came in 1987 when he was cast as Theo’s friend, Smitty, on The Cosby Show and he wound up appearing in four episodes over the span of a few months. This clip is a collection of various highlights of him from his episodes. I’m sure you’ve probably heard of the “Token Black Friend” cliche, but in the world of The Cosby Show, Adam Sandler had the unique distinction of being the “Token White Friend”. Seriously, how often do you see a clique of friends in a film or TV show that contains four black guys and one white guy?
