Before They Were Stars: 12-Year Old Beyonce on “Star Search”

I’ve had a bit of a Star Search theme this week on “Before They Were Stars”, showcasing early appearances from Justin Timberlake and Drew Carey on the show. Here’s a unique one featuring 12-year old Beyonce Knowles performing as part of her girl group, Girl’s Tyme, who would eventually retool themselves and change their name to Destiny’s Child on their path to success. Keeping up with the tradition of Star Search judges displaying a lack of foresight, Beyonce and Girl’s Tyme would wind up losing to a band named Skeleton Crew. Oh yeah, I remember Skeleton Crew albums just flying off the shelves after their appearance on this show!
