Danny Elfman and the Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo

Consider this an unofficial Before They Were Stars entry on today’s birthday boy Danny Elfman. Before he became Tim Burton’s go-to musician, Elfman made a name for himself as the front man for a performance art/theatre/music group called The Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo. The band performed all kinds of wild musical numbers, including Cab Calloway covers and New Wave ska alt rock songs! As the group gained popularity, they incorporated more comedy into their acts and shortened their name to just Oingo Boingo. I love these guys – they really know how to put on a show!
