Before They Were Stars: 12-Year Old Michael Cera in an IMAX Movie

For our next Arrested Development entry on “Before They Were Stars” this week, here’s a unique piece of obscurity called Ultimate G’s: Zac’s Flying Dream, a 3D short film produced in 2000 exclusively for IMAX theatres, with an unknown 12-year old Michael Cera in the role of Zac. If you’ve ever watched an IMAX film, you know that they are designed to focus more on spectacle than plot, but while Ultimate G’s apparently does contain some cool flying scenes, it was criticized for spending most of its time on a corny, melodramatic and badly acted underdog story. Needless to say, people don’t go to an IMAX theatre for the sight of Michael Cera acting socially awkward on a giant 50-foot screen. Anyway, be sure to also check out my other “Before They Were Stars” feature on Michael Cera, which shows him playing the very atypical role of a spoiled brat in an Olsen twins movie!
