I have a confession to make: I’ve never played an XCOM game. In fact, I’ve never even seen anyone else play an XCOM game, so rest assured that my perspective on this new instalment in the XCOM franchise is totally objective as far as the other games go – not that any of that matters, since this new game is apparently a reboot of the series. Looking at this trailer, I’m struck by two things: the game looks like loads of fun, and the graphics are surprisingly lackluster. I’m not sure if the game developers are intentionally channelling an old-school feel into the game, but it looks to me like the graphics are a few years out of date. Thankfully, the game itself looks like a total blast, and that shot of the possessed soldier’s face reconfiguring itself at the end is enough to hook me. I definitely plan on checking this out.
