Ever since Rise of the Planet of the Apes (how’s that for a clunky title?) was announced, I’ve been skeptical as to its quality. A prequel to Planet of the Apes coming out now struck me as odd timing, and the fact that James Franco is starring was also a bit of a head-scratcher. Early trailers didn’t necessarily help things either, as they shifted dangerously close to completely silly territory and included the line “We call it…the cure.”
Well, now we have this new international trailer for the movie that at least corrects the line and shows us that it’s actually “We call it the cure for Alzheimer’s.” Which, y’know, actually makes a lot of sense in the context of the movie. Not only that, but this trailer makes Caesar look a lot more sympathetic, and John Lithgow is featured! All of this could very well indicate that Rise of the Planet of the Apes is going to be surprisingly good. But I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…
Rise of the Planet of the Apes comes out August 5, 2011. And if you type the movie’s title 100 times, it’ll be out by the time you finish.
