Celebrated actor Peter Falk died yesterday, and although his family has yet to release the cause of his death, it is likely due to health complications. Falk was probably best known for his iconic role as television detective Columbo in a the series of the same name which ran for a whopping 13 years! Falk also played a fantasy version of himself in the Wim Wenders movie Wings of Desire, upon which the utterly atrocious Nicolas Cage/Meg Ryan movie City of Angels was based. But the role that I will always, always associate with Falk first and foremost is grampa in The Princess Bride. When it comes to movie grandfathers, there is none better.
