Does Transformers: Dark of the Moon Look Like The Island to You?

This bit of movie news has been making the rounds on the interwebs recently, as it has been discovered that Michael Bay reused *gasp* two shots from one of his previous films, The Island, in his latest film Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Frankly, I think everybody’s making a big deal out of nothing here. It’s not as though Bay reused the entire highway chase from The Island – he simply reuses two shots, one of which he alters significantly by adding a wicked-awesome giant robot to it. It’s obvious that he shot a new car chase sequence in Transformers 3; my guess is that either he didn’t shoot enough coverage or the coverage he had didn’t look good, so he used resources that he already owned. It’s not lazy, as some people might suggest, it’s all in the name of making something look good. But that’s just my take on it. What do you think? Do you think Michael Bay is a lazy filmmaker? Personally, based on all the locations, explosions and running scenes in Transformers 3, I’m inclined to say no.
