The title of this post isn’t a rhetorical question – I really want to know if you think this trailer for Marc Webb’s reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, titled The Amazing Spider-Man, looks any good. I’ve always been of the opinion that it’s a bit too soon for a Spider-Man reboot (only five years since the last film in Sam Raimi’s Spidey trilogy), but that aside, this trailer doesn’t make the movie seem particularly fun. I tend to think of Spidey as a wisecracking superhero; a kid with superpowers who, at first anyway, acts like a kid with superpowers. But this preview just looks dark and gritty, almost like they’re trying to go all Christopher Nolan’s Batman on the franchise. And that Mirror’s Edge point-of-view parkour sequence isn’t exactly dynamite. Wasn’t emo Spider-Man one of the things that people hated the most about Spider-Man 3?
But maybe I’m missing something here. I could be wrong, or this trailer could just be misleading. What do you guys think?
