Before They Were Stars: Carla Gugino on “ALF”

I must confess that my approach to doing “Before They Were Stars” entries right now is not to select a star and search for one of their earliest projects, but to select a cheesy TV show from my childhood and find out if any future stars ever appeared on them. The other day, I found out that a young Freddie Prinze Jr. appeared on Family Matters and now I’m thrilled to discover that 19-year old Carla Gugino made one of her earliest acting appearances on an episode of ALF. You may recall that in later seasons, they added a Ralph Macchio-lookalike to the cast named Jake, a teenager who moved in with the next door neighbours because his father was in prison and wound up becoming good friends with ALF. In this episode, Jake learns some stalking lessons from ALF by hanging outside the bedroom window of a girl he likes, who is played by Carla Gugino.
