Before Dr. Evil, there was Donald Pleasence as Ernst Blofeld! Pleasence was a World War 2 pilot who was shot down and taken to a German POW camp, where he produced and acted in plays. Upon his return to his home country of England following the war, he continued acting and made a name for himself appearing in such films as 1984, The Great Escape, THX 1138, You Only Live Twice, Halloween, Halloween 2, Halloween 4, Halloween 5, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, Prince of Darkness, and Escape From New York – John Carpenter was clearly a big fan! Pleasence died in 1995 at the age of 75.
