I’m sure you all know that Johnny Depp’s film debut was in A Nightmare on Elm Street, but here’s an interesting trivia question: can you name Mr. Depp’s SECOND film appearance? If you can’t, I wouldn’t hold it against you. For his follow-up role, Depp appeared in a very dumb 1985 teenage sex comedy called Private Resort, which just happened to be the film debut of Rob Morrow, who would go on to great fame on Northern Exposure and Numb3rs. The two of them play horny teenage friends who travel to a Miami resort with hopes of getting laid, but get involved in all sorts of wacky hijacks when they run afoul of a notorious jewel thief. If I’m ever asked to put together Johnny Depp’s career highlight reel when he wins his lifetime achievement award, I’ll be sure to include the scene where he hides naked in the jewel thief’s closet.
