I don’t want to be seen as a hater here, guys, but watching this newly released trailer for The Hunger Games, one thing just kept going through my mind over and over: I’ve seen this before, and it’s called Battle Royale. I mean, yes, The Hunger Games clearly has a higher budget and a more sci-fi feel to it, but the premise is basically the same, and, well, it just bugs me is all. But as I said, I’m not hating on this movie in the slightest – in fact, I’m really looking forward to it. I like Jennifer Lawrence, Donald Sutherland, Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson, and it looks weird and neat and all those other good things. But I’m such a big Battle Royale fan, I can’t help but draw connections between the two properties…which naturally means that I’ll be first in line for The Hunger Games just so I can compare.
