I’ll admit to having a soft spot for Stephen Sommers films, and G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra by association, but man, it looks like director Jon Chu, brought in as Sommers’ replacement for the sequel, has done a bang-up job! This looks like stupid, kickass action of the highest order, and with the inclusion of both Bruce Willis and the Rock, we know that the movie has some support from action cinema’s heavyweights. I’m almost more excited for this movie than for the similarly brainless-and-beefy The Expendables 2…but then, Expendables 2 has Chuck Norris…and this movie has Snake Eyes the badass ninja…damn. Tough call. Maybe G.I. Joe: Retaliation and The Expendables 2 should just fight each other to the death to decide which is cooler.
