Before They Were Stars: Stephen Colbert in a FirsTier Bank Commercial

Stephen Colbert selling out and appearing in a lame commercial for some financial institution?! Hey, Colbert was once a struggling performer who had to pay the bills just like everybody else, so he did this ad for FirsTier Bank sometime in the nineties. If you’ve never heard of FirsTier Bank, that’s probably because they mostly seem to service towns in Nebraska and Wyoming (aside from their failed branch in Louisville, Colorado that closed down last year), and it appears that their entire advertising is based around the “FirsTier”/”first here” pun, which gets old about as fast as David Letterman’s “Uma/Oprah” gag from the Academy Awards.
