Before They Were Stars: Viggo Mortensen in “High School Narc”

Awhile back, I did a “Before They Were Stars” feature on Viggo Mortensen’s film debut in Witness. Well, like many well-known actors who started out in the eighties and nineties (Joaquin Phoenix and Cynthia Nixon being just two examples), Viggo had to pay his dues by appearing in an ABC Afterschool Special. His follow-up role to Witness was in High School Narc, the story of a young police officer who goes undercover as a student at an inner-city high school in order to find out the identity of a major drug supplier. You can see Viggo in this clip as the student who is so obviously a drug user because he wears sunglasses in class. This special also happens to feature one of the earliest roles in the career of Nancy Travis, who would go on to fame in Three Men and a Baby and So I Married an Axe Murderer.
