Celebrity Birthday of the Day – December 31

James Remar is an awesome actor with over 100 credits to his name and a wicked-cool voice. To date, I still consider one of Remar’s first roles to be his most memorable: as the predatorily sexual and violent creep Ajax in the movie The Warriors. The success of this role, only his second film credit, led to him playing villains throughout much of his career. He was a killer in 48 Hours, a gangster in The Cotton Club, and, of course, Dexter Morgan’s adoptive father Harry in the hit TV series Dexter. I hesitate to call Remar a character actor because I feel as though he’s slipped into the mainstream over the course of his career, but he’s always popping up in secondary roles, including turns in movies such as Drugstore Cowboy, Hellraiser: Inferno, The Quest, Blade: Trinity, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, The Girl Next Door, What Lies Beneath, Ratatouille, Red, X-Men: First Class, and Pineapple Express. Also, his role on Dexter is just the tip of the iceberg as far as his work in television, as Remar has played roles in TV shows such as Miami Vice, Hill Street Blues, Nash Bridges, CSI: Miami, Sex and the City, Tales from the Crypt, Nash Bridges, Battlestar Galactica, and The X-Files! Talk about prolific! There’s plenty more James Remar awesomeness to look forward to as well, because he’s teaming up with Quentin Tarantino in Django Unchained, which can only be a good thing. He turns 58 today.
