After the Academy Award nominations are announced, I love to spend the week doing “Before They Were Stars” features on some of the nominees to show how far they’ve truly risen. One of the biggest surprises this year were the two nominations for Bridemaids, which garnered recognition for “Best Original Screenplay” and a “Best Supporting Actress” nod for Melissa McCarthy. Before she attained her breakout role on Gilmore Girls, McCarthy had a small part in Charlie’s Angels as an overly cheerful HR lady who greets the Angels as they infiltrate Redstar headquarters.
