Director Nacho Vigalondo first caught my attention with his strange sci-fi thriller Timecrimes, and so when I heard that his next film was going to involve a group of people holed up in an apartment complex, afraid of an alien ship that’s just cruised into town, I thought for sure it would be another creepy thriller akin to his previous movie. How wrong I was! This trailer for Extraterrestre reveals that the film is, in fact, a relationship comedy, with the added bonus of the giant alien spacecraft. It’s neat to see this premise spun in such a unique way – maybe the atrocious film Skyline just needed a healthy dose of neurotic romantic humour to save it from stupidity.
Extraterrestre doesn’t have a North American distributor, but will be released in Spain in March of 2012.
