Celebrity Birthday of the Day – March 2

Gates McFadden is one of those Star Trek cast members who will never escape the role she played on that show: that of Beverly Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation. However, not many people know that McFadden also worked with Jim Henson productions, directing choreography and “puppet movement” on such classic films as The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and The Muppets Take Manhattan. In addition to her work with Jim Henson, she also appeared on the TV series The Cosby Show and All My Children, as well as in the film The Hunt for Red October, before signing on to play Dr. Crusher with the crew of the Enterprise in 1987 – a role which she played on the show from 1987 until 1994, and then in each of the four Star Trek: TNG films (including Star Trek: Generations). Beverly Crusher…ahem, I mean, Gates McFadden turns 63 today.
