After Alice in Wonderland, I had started to think that Tim Burton had lost his touch and gone down the path of twee Disneyfication, but y’know what? I think I was wrong, because this trailer for Burton’s upcoming stop-motion film Frankenweenie looks terrific! This film is a claymation adaptation of Burton’s 1984 live-action short starring Daniel Stern, Shelley Duvall, and Sofia Coppola (which you can see below), and the new version features the voices of Catherine O’Hara, Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Tom Kenny, and Martin Landau. It looks like a darn good time, and I have high hopes that weird old Tim has gotten back to his roots and will deliver something wonderful.
Frankenweenie comes out October 5, 2012, but until then, you can watch the original short right here!
