Before They Were Stars: John Travolta in an Army Commercial

One of my earliest and more popular “Before They Were Stars” features showcased a young John Travolta singing with two other guys in the shower in a Safeguard soap commercial, but Travolta appeared in quite a few commercials early on in his career. Believe it or not, he actually appeared in this 1973 ad encouraging you to join the Army! I think the funniest part is how they advertise that your starting salary in the Army will be a whopping $288 a month and ask: “What are you going to do with that $288 every month?”. You know, even adjusted for inflation, that’s still a pretty shitty salary!
