The marketing campaign for John Carter has really run the gamut in terms of the level of quality it promises in the film it’s promoting. At first, I thought it looked pretty cool, but then as more trailers were released it began to look more like Star Wars – Episode 2: Attack of the Clones, mostly because of the prominently featured arena scene, and the association wasn’t a good one. But more recently, John Carter has been looking fun again, with a weird alien dog and a whole lot of sci-fi action. I’m definitely interested to see how the final product shapes up, and early reviews have been quite promising, but when it comes to John Carter‘s marketing…well, I think it’s telling when a fan can cut together a better trailer than the editors over at Disney.
