As is tradition here on TBR, today we’re celebrating the birthday of one of the cast members of Firefly – one of my very favourite shows! Sean Maher earned his drama degree at New York University and acted in numerous stage productions, including Into the Woods, before making the transition to television in 1999 with the short-lived TV series Ryan Caulfield: Year One. The following year, Maher had a reoccuring role on Party of Five, while at the same time appearing on the TV show The $treet. In 2002, Maher was cast as Simon Tam on Firefly, a role which he reprised for the 2005 movie Serenity. He’s also appeared on CSI: Miami, Ghost Whisperer, The Mentalist, The Playboy Club, and Make It or Break It. This year he has two movies coming out: Best Friends Forever, and the Joss Whedon adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing. But let’s face it: he’ll always be Simon Tam. Sean Maher turns 36 today.
