Since we just did a Shouts From the Back Row podcast on Monty Python, I think it’s only appropriate that some members of the Python troupe finally get the “Before They Were Stars” treatment. In 1966, the BBC series, The Wednesday Play, presented a black-and-white television production of Alice in Wonderland, which was trippy as hell and featured a lot of Ravi Shankar music. Eric Idle was cast as an extra in this, marking his very first role in front of a camera, and you can see him as the guy in the large top hat during the Caucus Race sequence. The best glimpses of Eric are probably him running around in circles at the 11:30 mark of this clip, and standing in the background at 13:37.
