Regular readers of the site know that when it comes to the big blockbusters of 2012, the one I’m least anticipating (with the exception of maybe Battleship) has got to be the Marc Webb reboot The Amazing Spider-Man. So far I just haven’t seen anything in the trailers that has gotten me excited or even intrigued me as to the story. I like Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, and Rhys Ifans just fine, and Webb’s 500 Days of Summer was a solid movie. But I really do feel like the Spider-Man story is a bit stale at this point in time. The atrocious third instalment of Sam Raimi’s series of films is still fresh in our minds, and even the biggest Spidey fans that I know aren’t hyped for this movie. I will say, however, that this new trailer comes close to getting me excited, since it shows us some new stuff and seems to focus more on the action – which, frankly, looks terrific. I dunno, I’m still on the fence with this one, but if I had only ever seen this trailer for it and nothing else, I don’t think there would be any doubt as to whether or not I’d be watching The Amazing Spider-Man. What do you think?
