Mr. Church reunites the Expendables for what should’ve been an easy job, but when one of their men is murdered, their quest for revenge puts them deep in enemy territory and up against an unexpected threat.
I must admit that I was a bit unimpressed with the first Expendables movie, as I felt it succeeded in delivering nostalgia value by featuring old-school action stars, but it failed to deliver any memorable action sequences or one-liners. Well, it looks like they’ve remedied this problem in The Expendable 2, because the new trailer opens with what promises to be a badass action sequence on ziplines, and the trailer also gives us a terrific one-liner from Jason Statham: “I now pronounce you man and knife.” Amazing! And then you have Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Arnold Schwarzenegger added to the cast….and it all devolves into gunfights and explosions from there. I find myself surprisingly excited for The Expendables 2 – hopefully this will be yet another case of the sequel surpassing the original in every way.
