The Freakiest Unexplained Coincidence in Cinema History!

Ready to be freaked out and have your mind blown? That still above is from a scene in the 1982 horror classic, Poltergeist. You may have heard of the infamous “Poltergeist Curse”, an urban legend that came about because two of the three children from the original film died tragic premature deaths. Dominique Dunne, who played the oldest daughter, was strangled to death by her ex-boyfriend not long after Poltergeist came out, and after appearing in two Poltergeist sequels, Heather O’Rourke died of cardiac arrest caused by septic shock at the age of 12. Actors Julian Beck and Will Sampson also passed away not long after appearing in Poltergeist II: The Other Side. Whether or not you believe in the “Poltergeist Curse”, I don’t know how one can explain this ultra-weird coincidence.

In the preceding still, you’ll notice a poster on the wall for Super Bowl XXII, which also lists the year 1988. That photo may not be 100 % clear, but many people who have watched Poltergeist on Blu-ray on a big-screen TV swear that those numbers are correct. Now, it’s strange enough that a poster for the 1988 Super Bowl would be on the wall since the film was made in 1982 and there’s no indication that the story takes place in the future or anything. But here’s the truly mind-blowing part. Super Bowl XXII took place on January 31, 1988. Heather O’Rourke got violently ill on January 31, 1988 and passed away the very next day! Super Bowl XXII also took place in San Diego… which just happened to be Heather O’Rourke’s hometown!

Excuse me while I go hide and cower under the bed right now!
