Before They Were Stars: Jeremy Renner in a Junior College Stage Play

I particularly love my “Before They Were Stars” features that showcase rare handheld, homemade footage of celebrities long before they were famous, so here’s a clip of Jeremy Renner performing in a stage play back when he was a college student. This was filmed in 1992 while 21-year old Jeremy was attending Modesto Junior College and got the lead role in a play written and directed by one of the professors. The play was called “American Pie” (back when people didn’t associate that term with sexual shenanigans involving desserts) and Jeremy played an angry young man who was brought up by his ultra-religious mother to be a Pentecostal preacher. On the basis of this clip, you could tell he had a lot of acting talent and was going to go places.
