Amber Tamblyn is a seriously cute actress with her star on the rise. Born into a family of artists – her father was an actor, dancer, and singer, and her mother a singer and artist – Tamblyn began acting in school plays at a young age. After seeing her play Pippi Longstocking in a school play, her father’s agent convinced her father to allow her to go to auditions for more professional projects. Her first TV role was on General Hospital, and she also starred in the pilot episode of the revived series of The Twilight Zone. In 2003, Tamblyn gained much attention for playing Joan Girardi on Joan of Arcadia, which ran for two years. She also had small roles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Boston Public, and CSI: Miami. More recently, Tamblyn played a prominent role as Martha Masters on the series House. Aside from television work, Tamblyn has also played a number of roles on the big screen, with her film credits including The Ring, The Grudge 2, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (and its sequel), and 127 Hours. Amber Tamblyn turns 29 today.
