In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day they decide to “close the loop”, sending back Joe’s future self for assassination.
Rian Johnson’s sci-fi time travel action thriller Looper has shot straight to the top of my must see list ever since its first trailer debuted. Now we have another one that reveals a few more plot details, and I’ve gotta say, this could well turn out to be my movie of the year. If Rian Johnson pulls this off, I’ll be a lifetime fan of his. Plus , he’s got Joseph Gordon-Levitt in another cerebral science fiction film where there’s crazy zero gravity shots, and we all know how well that worked in Inception.
Looper comes out September 28, 2012.
