No Owls Here

When an evil spirit called Pitch becomes bent upon taking over the world by inspiring fear in the hearts of kids everywhere, Santa (Alec Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher) and the Sandman (Tom Kenny) call upon Jack Frost (Chris Pine), to help them stop Pitch from destroying the world.

Dreamworks seriously needs to change the title of Rise of the Guardians, because Legend of the Guardians – The Owls of Ga’Hoole is still pretty fresh in everyone’s memories, and using “Rise of the” in the title totally makes it sounds like a sequel to “Legend of the“, right? But title trouble aside, this movie looks like a lot of fun. Dreamworks is really onto something here by taking an Avengers-style approach to their movie but using characters so popular that everyone already knows who they are, in order to skip all the buildup that Marvel had to go through. It’s a clever tactic, and I’ve already got a big soft spot for the Russian Viking Santa voiced by Alec Baldwin.

Rise of the Guardians comes out November 21, 2012.
